Nice to meet you!
I'm Lisa Robertson, a current fourth-year student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
With a concentration in graphic design and public relations, I have enhanced my journalistic skills and found passion in highlighting both individuals and brands that deserve recognition. I find immense value in visually communicating information and crafting impactful public relations work to elevate a company or organization’s presence.
As a sociology major, I have had the privilege of exploring complex social structures, always seeking to uncover the intricacies of society and search for equitable solutions to global challenges.
My desire to effectively and uniquely communicate started in high school when I spontaneously joined the yearbook team, and discovered a love for writing, layout design, and photography. My parents may argue it started as a child when all I wanted for birthdays or holidays were art supplies, but I don’t think those childhood doodles (scribbles) qualify as my start.
In 2023, I bought my first film camera, an Olympus OM-10 from around the mid-1980s. As I made my move to central California, with its rolling green hills in early spring and deep ocean blues in late summer, I wanted to capture everything. That camera has since traveled with me everywhere—from Yosemite to Napoli, Italy.
Handwritten notes, whether “just because” letters or holiday cards, have always brought me joy. Crafting messages that feel personal and intentional have informed my approach to PR and communications: understanding what resonates, tailoring messages thoughtfully, and making every interaction meaningful.
My love for blending media—typography, print, photography, and layout—has shaped the direction of my work. I earned my Associate of Arts in Sociology at De Anza College to better understand human behavior and the systems that shape our world. While I continue to be drawn to social justice, I later added a concentration in multimedia communications and public relations at Cal Poly to pursue my passion for storytelling through visual and written media.
